Friction Stir Welding

Extrusions

Friction Stir Welding is considered a “Value-Add” Process for the extrusion industry because FSW can join smaller extrusions together to form a larger structure. Extrusions can only be so large without having to increase the manufacturer’s press capabilities; a significant investment for both the manufacturer and extrusion user. Below are some examples of how smaller extrusions can be assembled and friction stir welded into larger structures.
